For King and Country' consists of two brothers, Joel (born 1984) and Luke (1986) Smallbone. Although they were both born in Australia, they moved to Nashville when young because of their dad's job. Their music style has been compared to 'Coldplay' with elements of pop and rock but underpinned by lyrics reflecting their Christian beliefs. They originally sang under the names of Joel & Luke before becoming Austoville. Under their new name, they released their first EP in 2008. Entitled 'A Tale of Two Towns', it consisted of 6 songs. When the Warner Music Group signed them up a year later, they changed their name to 'For King and Country' to reflect the philosophy behind their music. In 2011 their first recording 'For King and Country: The EP' was released, and the single from it 'Busted Heart (Hold On to Me)' reached the number 3 spot in Billboard's Christian Songs Chart. Their next album 'Crave' contained 3 songs from their Austoville EP but with changes in melodies in lyrics. It became a commercial success, reaching number 2 in the Christian/Gospel Chart and number 128 in the Billboard 200 chart. The release of a second single 'The Proof of Your Love; the Monologue Mix' differed from the album version with a spoken monologue. In 2013 they released a live album and DVD 'Hope is What We Crave' which had been recorded at The Factory, Nashville. The following year, their 'Run Wild. Live Free. Love Strong' album remained 17 weeks in the Billboard 200 charts reaching number 13 and earning them a Grammy for the Best Contemporary Christian Album of 2015. They produced a deluxe version of this award-winning album which had extra and reworked material and followed this by a 'Live from Phoenix Christmas' album in 2017. Their next album, 'Burn the Ships', is due to be released in October 2018.
